A Prayer

Towards you, O Lord,
You pulled me by chance,
Since that very moment,
I long for your glance.
But still feel so far,
From you I'm still apart.
This path seems so long,
Full of stones and thorns.
Just one wish I make,
Just one pledge I take,
For my soul's sake,
The journey ends soon,
Bless me with this boon,
And in the meanwhile I pray,
It takes longer than it may,
But, 'I quit', never must I say.

The Path

I know my way,
I know my path.
It's of light and sound,
Not of void and dark.
I shall keep walking,
Leaving not any mark.
I'll not return to play again,
This world is not my park.

Sandcastles

Have you noticed a child making the sandcastles? Ever? There is nothing between him and the play. The sand and his hands are all that he is careful about. He makes the castles as if he is going to live in there for eternity. Yet at the end of the day, when his father calls him, he leaves everything halfway or better destroy everything with the same hands that build them, and goes back to his father. With no regrets, no attachments to his treasured castles.

I want to live like that. I want to spend my life in such a way that though I may tend to do the things or make the relationships which seem to last longer than life yet when the death comes to hug me and to take me to my father Lord, I leave everything behind with no regrets, with no attachments whatsoever. I want no one to remember me after I leave this earth plane. Neither for good nor for bad.

Leaving your mark behind is what everyone is so conscious about. But what for? The one who leaves, has no connection with the mortal world. So why be so desperate for leaving your mark behind? I maybe making a mistake but that's what human life is all about. To make mistakes. To learn from them. To live for only yourself.

And perhaps in the process, somehow, I hurt the people around me - by not getting attached to them so much.

Monday Morning

Today is Monday. I know you all know that. But Monday mornings are hated by most of us. And I'm no exception. But have you ever thought that why we hate Monday mornings? Is it because we aren't prepared to go to work/study after an enjoyable and restful Sunday? Or is there any other reason?

Well, as far as I observed this problem, those who hate Monday mornings don't like their work or study. For if they do, they would never complain why there is Monday on the calendar again. I'm not here to motivate those who are affected by this syndrome because as I said earlier, I'm also affected by it. It has been a few years now since I have been caught by the virus of Monday morning. It wouldn't be wrong if I call myself the Tom Sawyer of my family.

But I wasn't like that a few years ago. Actually I loved Monday mornings till I was a student. In my student life, I never complained about it. Whether it was school or college or my CA course. I enjoyed every bit of that phase. Maybe because I knew from the very beginning that the best part of ones life is his/her student days. Of course we have tensions and stress of studies but it is far better than stress of other situations of life. But then again it depends on person to person. If I enjoyed my student days that doesn't guarantee my children will do the same.

It doesn't mean that I don't love my work. I do, but not more than my student days. It is good that I'm being paid and have become an earning member of the family but lucky are the people who could make their hobbies their profession. For them, work is never the work. They play while they work, they earn while they enjoy. Now please don't try to judge me. I'm not being negative. It is just that for some people, the past is more beautiful than the present. Yesterday looks better today and today would look even better tomorrow. I can't help it. I'm one of those dreamers who constantly dream about the beautiful yesterday and in turn miss the wonderful today.

I'm always an optimistic and I do believe and hope that before I leave this world, I learn to enjoy the Monday mornings. After all, as they say, life is for living and not for complaining.

P.S. - The facts of the above post may not be and will certainly not be applicable to all. So please be generous and leave a comment/suggestion to help me (and other affected) overcome this syndrome.

A Last Letter To Santa

Dear Santa,
Merry X-Mas.

Its Christmas again and you're here again to grant everyone's wish. Ever since I was a child, I always kept waiting for you even months ago the Christmas day. Every year I had a new wish. Some were granted the others were trashed. And now, as I'm no more a child, I still have some wishes unfulfilled.

Before I start on writing my wishlist to you, please understand that there is no hurry in granting my wish. You can take another year if you want to. But you have to make sure that my wish is granted for if you really are what you are.

I always dreamed of a big bungalow like house with the gardens surrounding it from three sides. A big black color car shining as bright as the full moonlit. A roaring bank balance and everything else what is needed to be called successful in this materialistic world. But wait, did I tell you that I want all this even now? When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up soon and get everything what made me fascinated. Only when I was a kid.

But you are safe. You need not to carry all this with you from the other side of this world. I have something else in my wishlist which is not too long. Just a single but a real wish from the bottom of my heart. Please give me my childhood back. All I want for Christmas is this.

Big houses don't fascinate me now. I was happy making and breaking sandcastles again and again. The bicycle I got from my Dad on my birthday was more precious than the big black cars. I was happy with whatever little pocket money I used to get, now you can have my bank balance if you want to. I was happy playing little games with my buddies than the corporate games now I have to play forcefully. At least we were never such desperate to always win. Sometimes losing in front of our buddies made us happy than any other thing.

Going to school was so much fun that I never wanted to miss it and I'm glad that I never did it deliberately. Then my college life. How can I forget it. Now, there isn't a single day so far that I really enjoyed attending my office. Maybe I'm too nostalgic, maybe I'm too emotional. Its really OK if I am.

When people grow up they say that you don't exist. But from my childhood I have a firm belief that you do. So, here is the chance for you to prove your existence. This letter I'm writing to you is my last. Grant my wish or lose your believer. The choice is all yours.

Closing my letter with the hope in my heart.
Merry Christmas.

P.S. - I know the wish above is not realistic but what to do - Dil To Bacha Hai Ji. Merry Christmas to all.

I Fear

"Hey, look down, it is so scary", one of my friends shouted.

"Harry, come forward. See the cars and the people look like shrunk", Oliver said without looking back at me.

"No, I'm scared of the height", I replied looking at the other side. A beautiful Dove was teaching her baby Dove how to fly. I wished some day I could fly without fear.

P.S. - The story may be fictional but I actually fear of the height and this is one of the things I want to conquer.

Fingers Crossed

It's been a long time since I've posted on my Blog. And if you're thinking that I'm back, sorry but I'm not yet. Today I'm not here to post any poem or story or haiku or something like that. Since many days, I'm not feeling like living the way I should. I need to pour it out to somebody but I think everyone is busy in his/her own life so I shouldn't disturb them. The only place I can be 'truly myself' is this little space of mine - My Blog. So, whether you're interesting in my life or not, here I'm speaking my heart out. Please bear with me.

Well, first I'd disclose today that why I'm not able to Blog these days - I'm tensed. Yes, I really am. In the first week of September there is something in line which can change my life and I want it to happen, otherwise I don't think I can go like this. The day is - 6th of September 2010 - just one day before I'll turn 25 i.e., 7th of September 2010. Now it is all up to my destiny whether it would be 'the best' or 'the worst' birthday of my life so far. Lets see what my birthday brings for me this time.

Sorry I can't tell what exactly is going to happen in some days. But whatever it is, it means a lot for me and my family (if you're thinking about my marriage then you would most certainly be disappointed). I think I should keep it under veil until the event actually happens. So, please wait for some more days.

I'm also not able to visit my fellow Bloggers' Blogs. I beg your pardon for this. I'm hoping to share some good news with you all (if it goes well). I'm keeping my fingers crossed though I always wonder how a crossed pair of fingers can bring you good luck. If anyone knows the secret or logic for that matter, please share with me.

Till then, keep Blogging.

Signing off for some more days.

Missing writing.

Wish

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 12; the twelfth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.

I did wish a wish
and was promptly granted,
it was only you,
who I've ever wanted.

I loved and I cared,
for you, everything I did,
you didn't let me down,
you pampered like a kid.

The love was in the air,
the love was on it's peak,
as if we'd got everything,
anything else, we didn't seek.

From the heights of love,
we suddenly fell down,
we reached at it's peak,
now we were on ground.

This time I wished again,
this time you also did,
this time we wished together,
that our love be saved a bit.

Passing days in our thoughts,
spending nights without sleep,
is all we have to bear now,
is the treasure we have to keep.

I wish I hadn't wished,
I wish it hadn't been granted,
no matter I never got you,
no matter you ever remained wanted.

If I Were...

One of my dear blogger friend Leo has tagged me in his post 'If I Were', so I'm taking it up with heartiest thanks to him. Here goes my take on it :-)

If I were a month, I'd be February, for in it my parents got married and they gave me a chance to see this beautiful world.

If I were a day, I'd be Sunday with no other thought, for this is the day which I can spend in my own way.

If I were a time of the day, I'd be the early hour of the morning, for when the sun rays touch the earth and calmness fill the atmosphere, I can think more creatively than any other time of the day.

If I were a season, I'd be winters, for I love the fog falling on my face and also I don't get drenched like in rain and my Mom keeps cool :-)

If I were a planet, I'd not be one. Rather I'd be a satellite of the planet earth i.e. moon, for whenever I look up to the sky, my lips get converted into a curve to smile and it's beauty beats the stars.

If I were a direction, I'd be north, for it is always on the upper side of the map and it encourages me to move upward in life.

If I were a drink, I'd be Punjabi Lassi, for I'm a Punjabi myself and I love it so much. I had a glass full of it today :-)

If I were a flower, I'd be Lily, for it lives only for a day but spreads happiness in every way.

If I were an animal, I'd be horse, for I like the saying that a man and a horse never get old. I didn't say I wanna die young :-)

If I were a musical instrument, I'd be mouth organ, for if one wants to play me, has to kiss me :-) weird reason I guess :-)

If I were a fruit, I'd be mango, for it is my favourite in any form :-)

If I were a celebrity, I'd be none other than little master Sachin Tendulkar, for he is best in his field.

If I were a gemstone, I'd be diamond, for it is girls' best friend, hardly found and most precious too :-)

If I were a color, I'd be white, for it is the color of peace and our world need it the most.

If I were a song, I'd be 'My Heart Will Go On' of Celine Dion, for it makes me relax whenever I listen to it.

If I were a movie, I'd be '3 Idiots', for the friendship and innovative thinking it depicts.

If I were a food, I'd be Shahi Paneer made by my Mom (or even by Dad sometimes), for I love cheese :-)

If I were a piece of art, I'd be some noticeable and praiseworthy writing, for I just don't want to be any other piece of art.

If I were a body part, I'd be the eyes, for it hides all the beauties of the world.

If I were a facial expression, I'd be surprised, for there is no fun in being worldly wise and rarely surprised. Also I love surprises :-)

If you are reading this post, take yourself to be tagged. You can also use different categories if you want to. This post is also similar to one of my earlier posts 'I Wish I Were'. Have a look at this too.

I Wish I were...

I wish I were a drop of dew
when the sun rays touch me
I shine as bright as you

I wish I were a flower
surrounded by the thorns
spreading fragrance however

I wish I were breeze
moving without directions
living my life with ease

I wish I were rain
falling on the ground
washing all your pain

I wish I were a tree
standing tall whole life
living at least sin-free

I wish I were a sparrow
flying not so high in the sky
yet making the world so narrow

I wish I were a poem
written in a few words
expressions with rhyme
